BEVERLY MOTEL LICENSE SUSPENDED
Ed Gibbons was among many local residents who breathed a sigh of relief when he learned the Beverly Motel had been served with a 30-day business license suspension under new legislation.
The motel has long been a hub for prostitution and drug dealing. “Up until recently” says Ed, “property rights have over-ruled common sense and public order.” - scroll down -
“Now the motel’s owners will have to do something about the behaviour of their clientele or face even longer suspensions.” Ed was instrumental in convincing the provincial government to enact the new legislation.
NORTHEAST BIOFUEL PLANT GOOD NEWS
It was good news for both the city and the environment when a recent sod-turning ceremony heralded the construction of a new bio-electric generating station powered by shredded garbage.
The new plant means more jobs and a reduced carbon footprint in northeast Edmonton. Ed played a key role in realizing the visionary new facility and in bringing it to his constituents.
RIDE FOR DAD 2010
As Chair of the Edmonton Salutes Committee and recently recovered from prostate cancer, Ed was delighted to recognize the 2010 “Motorcycle Ride for Dad.”
This year the Ride visited Canadian forces bases along the way. The Edmonton Garrison graciously hosted a reception in their honour.
